Pesetas

Pasetas old currency of Spain

Yes, I know, the Euro was introduced in 2002 and the Peseta should have vanished like Deutschmark, Schilling and French Francs. But five years later, Spanish people still think and trade in their old currency.

The price tickets in some shops still have the price in Pesetas, and very small somewhere in the corner you might find it in Euro as well (if your lucky).

Go to a Real Estate Agency and ask for a price on a specific property. 'That's 20 million.' is the answer. Wow, expensive, you think, before it dawns on you, it's 20 million Pesetas. If you ask then, what the price in Euro is, they actually have to use a calculator, because no one ever asks that question.

For those who want to travel to Spain, the official exchange rate is (convert Euro to Pasetas or convert Pasetas to Euro):

1 € = 166.386 Pesetas

1 Peseta = 0.00601012 €

In other words, said property would be 120,202.42 €.
